Derek C. Stoddard
Project Engineer
Derek Stoddard joined Progress Engineering as a Technical Intern in May 2022 and has since grown into the role of Project Engineer as of May 2026.
Derek received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maine and his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and Financial Management from Husson University. He has gained hands-on experience in the design, development, and implementation of SCADA and HMI systems for a wide range of industrial applications. His work focuses on creating reliable operator interfaces, configuring system alarms, managing and displaying process data, and helping integrate control system solutions that meet the needs of each application.
Derek has contributed to several unique projects during his time with Progress Engineering, including a kiln schedule management system and a custom alarming system with integrated email and SMS notifications. In addition to project development, he assists with system troubleshooting, product research, and testing new technologies to support dependable and efficient automation solutions. Derek is Core Certified in the Ignition Platform and has gained strong experience with other platforms including AVEVA PlantSCADA and FactoryTalk View.
Derek lives with his family in South Thomaston, Maine.
