AJ joined Progress Engineering in October 2022 as a Senior Project Engineer. AJ’s duties at Progress Engineering include working on the design, programming and implementation of automated control systems for our customers, as well as assisting with servicing, improving and recommending modifications to existing systems.

AJ holds an Associate of Science degree in Applied Electronics and Computer Technology from Kennebec Valley Community College and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology from the University of Maine at Orono. He began his professional career at Lanco Incorporated in Westbrook, where he was a Field Service Technician traveling the world working on automated assembly lines and robotics in the automotive, medical, consumer goods and defense industries. In this position, AJ developed significant familiarity with PLC-based manufacturing and automation equipment, as well as HMIs. He then furthered his career working as the Electrical and Instrumentation Supervisor for the Pulping, Woodyard, Waste Treatment and HVAC Departments at Sappi Fine Paper at the Somerset Plant in Skowhegan. There, he supervised a crew of 12, keeping ahead of breakdowns while also performing critical preventative maintenance required by insurance and state regulations.

AJ is an avid car enthusiast and works in his free time on a family business that distributes automotive detailing chemicals.
