Derek C. Stoddard
Technical Intern

Derek joined Progress Engineering in May 2022 as a Technical Intern, and quickly jumped into programming SCADA and HMI systems for our customers. Derek has demonstrated a strong facility for programming and digging into complex problems.

Derek is a multi-faceted team member. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Financial Management from Husson University in Bangor, Maine, and started a career in financial advising before deciding to make a change to engineering. He is now working toward his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering at the University of Maine in Orono, while working several days a week at Progress Engineering. In past positions, he has worked as a machine operator for a manufacturer of heirloom-quality woodworking hand tools, and as head baker at a locally-owned commercial bread bakery.

Derek has worked on several projects during his time with Progress so far, focusing mainly on SCADA and HMI design for various unique applications. He also assists in troubleshooting systems as well as researching and testing new products.
